costs to find out:

-FIRE SAFETY CERTIFICATE -(23/1/06 fire service - when work is complete, joint inspection with building inspector and fire brigade - fire.... we pick up copies of certificates. make an application - they vet the plan. they keep and send one to fire brigade. )

-ELECTRICAL SAFETY CERTIFICATE - (23/1/06 electrician does the work - emergency light/ fire alarm. THEN SIGNS A CERTIFICATE AT THE END, WHICH IS BUILT INTO COST OF WORK)

-BUILDING REGULATION APPLICATION - (23/1/06 Christo written a letter to Bldng Regs manager to ask for discretionary rates - it can be expensive to apply for an application, but the checks at the end and certificates of approval are free).

-CLUB PREMISES CERTIFICATION

-CLUB PREMISES LICENSE

-CIC REGISTRATION - £35 cheque to be included with registration forms - CHRISTO: £35 PAID

-STRUCTURAL ENGINEER FOR WORKS - Lucy reckons £500
-FIRE DOORS (PUSH BAR AND SELF CLOSING) - (23/1/06, 3xdouble sc, 9 reg inc smoke seals and self closers. 15mm fireline or 2 layers plasterboard. 1dbcheck wall board - lafarge/ british gypsum. or smaller studs with 2 layers 12.5mm plasterboard. pink = fire, blue - sound. pink stuff is only slightly more expensive than regular)

-ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT (23/1/06, Mat rang Integral to find out quotes - we need to get a viewing to get him in and do a quote). (25/1/06, Alan mentioned a guy called Vinnie who might be good)Integral will not do work as they object to the Cinema.William Dobson (contact - Niel Cundall, will do the work - need to supply detailed plans of where power needs to be sent and possibly get a "survey" of existing electrics (to be removed)

-CENTRAL HEATING SYSTEM (25/1/06, Adam thinks his students might be able to help and he could assess. Domestic system should be ok. c.£2500. Could reclaim heaters from O Brien's in East Boldon. Needs to see building though.)

-FIRE SAFE WALLS + DOORS (25/1/06 - Christo been getting quotes for new doors. Could go to O Briens for old doors but need to check fire safe time on them. needs to be 1fr rated. Apparently plaster board walls v bad for sound insulation - should we look for breeze block walls and get local coollege bricklayesr to lay and plaster for their assessment? With plasterboard, pink is fire safe stuff. Needs 2 layers either side of normal though - could be alot of plasterboard!)

Things to find out...

-Design electrical circuit considering new plans - (MAT HAS EMAILED 23/1/06. Tom Cullen and Jona Aal have designed it, inc. 32amp sockets for stage lights.)

-Ask Chris for structural engineer details and electrician details (Integral person sounds good)(MAT HAS EMAILED 23/1/06. John Smith is going to sort this bit out)

-Email Peter Hall - quotes for costs and weights of 35mm eqpt. (MAT HAS EMAILED 23/1/06. All quotes are back and are incorporated into the application to the film council for equipment.)

-Register on SCAN (Newcastle uni's volunteer thing.) (CHRISTO HAS EMAILED SOFIA 23/1/06. We need to fillout a few forms before people can help... looks a bit complicated.)

-INSURANCE (23/1/06. SOFIA IS DOING RESEARCH - WILL HAVE INFO BY WED.)
Hi everyone! I just wanted to inform you about what I’ve managed to do so far as far as the insurance and the SCAN (Newcastle University’s volunteer database) are concerned. I’ve already mailed Christo (have you been getting my mails??)(YES - Christo) Firstly, I’ve arranged meeting with 2 brokers who seemed to have some experience in the area and want to talk to you in person (just to give advices and quotes –free of charge of course). Cause there are just so many things that I don’t know off (like what’s the construction made of, if the premises are alarmed, how windows are secured, what kind of electronic equipment you possess- caused they are insured separately, how much the bar stock costs and many other things…..). I have their contact numbers and arranged for them to come at some point by the offices; however I need someone to tell me when they should pop into. And secondly, the SCAN people also want to take a look at the premises just to make sure that it will be safe for volunteers to work there (paint, decorate etc) before they register the cinema for volunteers (and they are also willing to inform people about the opening night!!) They are free on Thursday (9th/feb). afternoon, yet again someone has to show them around. That’s all for the moment.. Sofia
MORE INFO ON INSURANCE IN MINUTES FROM MEETING 06/03.
INSURANCE NEWS: Got a quote for a combined policy of contents and liability for 1785/year
I will post rest of details as soon as I receive them, hopefully by today evening.

-BINS - how do we get hold of a big wheely bin, and how do we dispose of rubbish?

10/12/05:
This document will refer to different areas of the building as followed:

1) Foyer: the area directly behind blue doors at the top of Stepney Bank.
2) Social Space: the most northerly of the 3 internal long spaces
3) Cinema auditorium: The central internal long space.
4) Office area: the most southerly internal long space subdivded into smaller rooms.

Please note none of our proposed alterations will be structural. Walls will be stud walls, and nothing will be knocked through any existing walls.

Foyer
Double push bar doors to be fitted within existing blue gate.
Temporary wall with door to be erected across the space just beyond the doorway into the Social Space.
Plasterboard cladding to be put on some walls depending on condition.

Social Space
Line walls with plasterboad with rockwool behind for insulation purposes.
Install small counter along the western end of the north wall.
Pendant lamps throughout.
Remove suspended ceiling.
Install minimal kitchen in one of the partitioned spaces at the east end - plumb in gas/water/air extraction.
We would like to look into the options for increasing natural light entering the space. Cleaning existing transparent ceiling sections and/or adding more such pieces.

Cinema Auditorium
Line walls with plasterboad with rockwool behind for insulation purposes.
Install self supporting cabin at the eastern end with raised floor to act as projection booth
Install wooden stage-block-like steps rising from the center of the space to the eastern end to act as raked seating.
Install support for a screen at the western end.
Visually tidy up and insulate the ceiling.
Install wall lights
Kevin White to build metal screen frame (26/2/06)

Office area
Make a fire exit corridor from Cinema Auditorium to the space which is currently parking bays.
Make good existing spaces for office/storage/workshop use.
Most westerly room to have new sink installed where existing one is and basic air extraction for use as a darkroom.

other
Paint brick walls where necessary
concern about heating - if no good we will have to install central heating.
