MAKIN MONEY!

An interesting point - If we make £1000 per week on booze we will no longer need to get any funding.
We have budgeted to make approx £75 per week, but bars on the quayside make about £2000 on a saturday night i reckon

We would need to have 200 people drinking at least 3 drinks at £2 per drink on a friday night (as in 200 people through the bar) and that would be 1200, and minus the cost of the booze (about 75p per drink) £450) would mean a profit of £750. Then we need to sell another 100 drinks for the rest of the days to make another £125, making a grand total profit of 875 per week, times that by 50 (2 weeks off for holiday!) would equal £43750, so not totally impossible to reach the £50k mark and NO MORE FUNDING!!!!!!

At present we are applying for £10k from NCC, £10k from NFM, £17.5k from ACENE, (and probably £5k from Northern Rock, which we have not done much work on yet...)
Funding application suck, so we need to make more money ourselves.

We can:
Rent cinema (if we rented corporate rates e.g £250 for a screening, and did that once a week, we could make 12.5k. We have budgeted to make 2k this year. So we could all help make that work. We can get other arts agencies to pay maybe £100 rental for some space... e.g Baltic live art space is no longer...
Private party would be £100, but we could make money on the bar too...

We could have a FRIENDS GROUP - where people can donate money to help us continue.
For a tenner you could get 2 free screenings a year, plus membership.
For £25 a year, you could get 4 free screenings and
If 200 people paid £10 a year, thats 2k, if 50 people paid £25 a year, thats £1250 a year. etc etc.
We want it just to be people donating though rather than a company.

Ilana says: http://www.campbellworks.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/meatandbone.htm is a good model for membership - a one off cheap memebership or yearly one. And a nice way of putting it...

Advertise local companies on super 8 movies - Mat and Debbie's thing.

Selling crisps and sweets... maybe we could make £500 on them a year??? - if we sold about £20 worth per week, and it cost us £7.50 a week as a figure plucked out of a black hole in the universe, we could make a huge total of £625 per year.

We could have a donations box that was nice and pretty and on your way out...

We could have a craft/ jumble fair - stereo is doing it already...but we can do it properly. what am i rabbiting on about. SOMEBODY STOP ME

Check out this website where you put cheesy photos up and they get bought - folks makin about £100 per month with this shit! So maybe we could start a star and shadow account and put up pics we dont like on their site and make money!

How about a film workshop for kids, on at the weekend? Mushroomworks do a similar thing. If anybody has experience in doing that sort of thing... it would mean CRB checks and stuff.
