Building Maintenance

- Phone call from Jane Tarr re: Arts and Business concerning £5k available to Star and Shadow. How can we integrate with the local businesses. If you have an idea for a mutually beneficial project with a business which requires the purchase of a £5000 projector, get in touch with Mat. Promote cooperation with small businesses and charities (Bill's suggestion for adverts). Robin mentioned co-op. Bill has a series of films about the history of the Co-operative Movement. Bill to source films, Robin to write 500 words. Mat will ring tomorrow.
- Low energy lightbulbs recommended for the bar.
Bar
- Blonde cannot be delivered until week of 10th. Bill to purchase lager, vodka etc.
Volunteer Processes.
- Steph to send an email to volunteer for this month's shifts, and mention the volunteer/maintenance day.
Issues from Last 2 Weeks.
- Bike Film Fest was good - might be good to feed back at some point how that went. Could have been bigger (as in more interactive stuff, bike decorations, pedal power things - maybe would be good to have a bigger team organising from Recyke yer Bike end.
- Lucero gig - was very intense - the crowd were a bit rowdy. ACTION - feedback to Pauline. Would be very hard to research the crowds for gigs. There were incidents of smoking, which Robin responded to (took the offending person outside). Incidents of abuse to bar volunteers, and incidents of violence to promoter's staff. Robin and bar staff felt there was a good atmosphere, but one or two on the edge (need to cover ourselves for that.) No presence out side in the hall. ACTION - Research what type of gig will it be? We have had 2 really nice doormen (expensive though). good deterrent. Include a clause in contract re: deposit concerning violence. The promoter guy wasnt very authoritative, but was really good in terms of coming in clearing up, providing volunteers. Organise some Bar management training (conflict resolution etc.) Ultimately this bunch of promoters are good, and they showed willingness to develop their skills. Bill's concern is that we are too open to outsiders volunteering.
SHIFTS
- Shifts for the week were sorted.
- Holly will find someone to run the induction -
NEW IDEAS
- One of participatory budgeting meetings suggestions (and income generating) was having an educational workshop programme. Dimitrius and Laura M interested in running workshops (music/filmmaking) - into starting a group for anyone into running workshops both practically and how it fits with the ethos.
- Bill has put a notice up in gathering a group of theatre players for left wing plays to resurrect a company called Unity Theatre (trad from 1930's). get a group meeting once a week to present 10min enactments of political propaganda. Wants half a dozen actors to meet weekly.
- Sarah Leahy's ideas on the wiki.
