Diversity
At Star & Shadow we believe that diversity is a strength and is key to making Star & Shadow successful and enjoyable for all. Making diversity part of our everyday language and integral to all that we do will enables us to achieve our aims of respect, equality, and fairness in everything we do.
Diversity is about recognising that people are different. This can be manifested in both visible and non-visible ways and includes all the ways in which people are different – in their approach to volunteering, their experience or values – and not just the most obvious ones such as age, gender, disability or ethnic origin. By understanding and harnessing these differences we believe it is possible to create an environment in which there is the opportunity for everyone to feel valued, their talents to be fully utilised and for both personal and organisational aspirations to be met.
We are committed to ensuring that the diverse and unique contributions that all who are involved in the work of Star & Shadow Cinema are valued. This approach extends not only to those who work at Star & Shadow Cinema but all those with whom we work in partnership.
Valuing difference means valuing the qualities that different people bring to the way they work rather than judging people, their ideas and approach by the extent to which they conform to our own personal preference about the way things should be done.
Equal Opportunities Policy
- Star & Shadow Cinema is open to all people regardless of ethnic origin
- We do not discriminate on grounds of gender, age, sexual orientation or religion
- We aim to make our events and facilities as open as possible to those with disabilities
