BROADER ENGAGEMENT WITH LOCAL GROUPS

Identified as priorities within this heading were:

- Expanded cinema communities - Used and valued by local communities - Greater use of premises: time, function '

In smaller groups we spoke about how the above might happen. We came up with:

1. Parties that actively include the people who live in the area surrounding the cinema

2. Thinking about the how the cinema could become more amenable to children (and parents) a meeting to discuss this is happening at the cinema at 5pm on Monday 28/01/08, before the publicity and programming meeting.

3. Linking in to any Church newsletter that might cover the area around the cinema

4. Making links with the Community Centre down the road

5. Introduce a 'single sheet' information summary about what's on at the cinema (similar to Cluny) that is possibly more digestible for people Haz will ask Debbie whether she thinks this could be added to the designer's brief

6. Continue to make sure that specific groups are aware that they are welcome to programme film nights at the cinema and to support them should they want to

7. Make contact with local area committees to inquire about financial support for the showing of films to children or other groups

8. To maximise the space at the cinema to encourage people to hire (or use for free) the building

If anyone has any suggestions as to how move forward on these things or would like to make other suggestions, do email Haz at theawkwards@gmail.com
