ask AV/Tyneside what films they are showing - sarah

catering for the sunday 2nd event: brunch; tea and scones. find caterers for brunch (sarah). make our own tea and scones and jam and whipped cream for the afternoon tea break.
AV Fest runs 28th Feb - 9 Mar around North East.
We are hosting some events managed by AV Fest - these are the ones in Italics. They will be managing and paying for these events and providing some volunteers for shifts. Star and Shadow will run the venue, keep all ticket/bar sales.
Events not in Italics are Star and Shadow ideas - we pay for and manage these as part of our programme.
The AV festival deadline is earlier than ours so we have a bit more time to plan. Add suggestions below.

Jo Burke - group show of N.E. based artists in exhibition corridor
Use the bar as a sort of lounge area throughout the Festival, with individual tvs or monitors running the artists film & tv programme on ongoing basis

Sun 2 Mar – Broadcast Yourself
Broadcast Yourself discussion event & screenings; we’ve invited Sarah Cook & Kathy Rae Huffman to curate an event which includes artist talks & presentations, as well as additional single channel screenings that compliment and expand on the ideas presented through their exhibition ‘Broadcast Yourself’ at the Hatton Gallery and we’d really like to host this event at the Star and Shadow, as we feel that it would be a fantastic event that dovetails with many interests of those at the Star and Shadow.

Mon 3 Mar - meeting only
Tues 4 Mar - Glimpses of Autonomy (meeting), 6pm.
Tues 4 Mar - Community Radio night – screen the Brazilian community radio documentary, plus invite guests from NE1 FM (new community radio station which is based in a church opposite the Biscuit Factory and who are hoping to collaborate with on the AV Festival radio station in Newcastle) and Knut Aufermann, who will be leading the Newcastle & Sunderland radio stations in collaboration with Resonance FM.
Wed 5 Mar - Videogramme einer Revolution – film by Harun Farocki which documents the Romanian Revolution in 1989 and the way that broadcast television was used as an integral part of the process. Harun Farocki will be exhibiting work at the NGCA and may be able to introduce the film.
Thurs 6 Mar - Network (1976) unconfirmed AV themed film/event ["First Thursday" evening event next door at the ArtWorks. Keep the noise down here!]
Fri 7 Mar - A Bit Crack - AV propose TV at the Cinema – this strand will be curated by our new Broadcast Consultant and this programme will likely have a Cult TV/Sci Fi focus. can move days.
Sat 8 March - volunteer induction, 11am. Evening - Bench (grafitti/writers tagging event + old school films on writing). Or poss. International women's day event
Sun 9 Mar - unconfirmed AV themed film/event (currently war of the worlds).
