3. Last Two weeks:
- Family Cinema - thanks to everyone who made it tidy. Screenings went really well, v popular and good connections to school.
Action: Can volunteers wear badges when doing family screenings to identify themselves.
Action: Craig, Lindsay and Keith to develop collab. with Lit & Phil Soc for WW1 event.
- Projection box - not being left as found, therefore people struggling with setting up for projection (missing cables, wrong settings on different things).
Discussion about fluctuating nature of improving upon equipment and need for projectionists to be able to trouble shoot on one hand, and a need for hard wiring, training and consistency on the other.
Action: Sat 12th July to be projection booth day (purchasing and upgrading equipment, especially a BOOK WHICH PEOPLE WILL WRITE IN IF THEY CHANGE THINGS/ THINGS ARE BROKEN) Including a box of jack-phono adapters.
Action: Booth to be kept tidy and book to be used properly.
Action: Further training to be organised.
- Lack of volunteers last week - perhaps because of lack of monday meeting.
Action: Instate monday meetings for every week, even 5th of the month.
Action: Keep on top of weekly volunteer mail outs (Craig to assist on this).
- Problem of flypostering on main door and on large areas inside - looks untidy, is quickly out of date and is a bugger to remove on one hand, gives character and history on other.
Action: Make 2x large poster cabinets (for movie posters) to go on front door during building fest.
Action: Resist flypostering on front door.
- Safe Key - not everyone knows the new system. MAke sure all keyholders know the system. Safe key safe suggested with keys for all keyholders.
Action: Put a large keyring on safe key with reminder of procedure.
Action: Ensure all keyholders when writing their names on the rota put contact details, and prefereably contact the person on the next night as to where the key will be.
4. Building Festival
- Sewing black fabric for sound dampening drapes - Jona to source industrial sewing machine, Amanda to do sewing during building fest week.
- Discussed list of works (see Building_festival_2-_aug_08), particularly ways of breaking up space in bar area.
- Planning of volunteer roles is key - last time was chaotic and delegaation difficult.
- Skill sharing is a focus
ACTION: Sub group meetings Tuesday 8th July 12pm, Saturday 12th July pm.
P.S (not part of meeting) - funding applied from Community Foundation and Sir James Knot Trust (£2000 in total).
5. Finance
- Still no sign of accounts - Christo to chase Paul.
- Balance a bit low because of purchasing new equipment. Please go easy on expenditure.
6. Bar
- Please make sure you clean the lines using Alan's nice laminated ticket system (attached to the lines) - we lose about 2/3 of a pint each time but its better than a minging 1st pint. If its quiet, dont attach the Wylamboxes to the line, just do it the old fashioned way.
- Fridge - Please dont turn it up (4 bottles of fentimans exploded in the fridge because it was so cold.) Also please do not put Belgian beers in the fridge.
7. A.O.B
- Star and Shadow radio slot - this wednesday, 6pm-7pm. Could be regular on Friday afternoons once a month. To talk about upcoming films with programmers and play soundtracks too. Meet at cinema at 5pm if you want to be involved (on wednesday 9th July.)
- Marketing deadlines - 23 July for September brochure, 23 August for October November.
- Unity Theatre - Bill Ormond has disbanded Unity Theatre, after 18 months of effort. The members left over have formed a new group, and wanted to rehearse in the cinema the next night, but the meeting felt it was insensitive to Bill Ormond considering the enormous contribution he makes to the Star and Shadow.
- Post Office is being closed down at St Annes. Please show your support by writing letters supporting the need for the post office with reasons. More info can be found at the Post Office.
- Christo to do volunteer induction on saturday. All shifts covered. Please reconnect with any volunteers that are not coming in so much anymore as we have been a bit short recently.
