Present- Hannah, Ilana, Mike, Craig, Debbie, Rowan, Tim, Gerry and Anna
1. MATTERS ARISING- the minutes from the last programming meeting 2 weeks ago have not been sent by the minute taker so this has not been possible.
2. NEW IDEAS Hannah would like to use the cinema on Saturday 15th in the daytime for a private winter celebration film screening event for the Steps Forward Mentoring group that she works with. They would have volunteers with them that she works with. Hannah is also a keyholder . It is agreed that this is fine
Rowan and Tim are interested in putting on a dance music night at the cinema, they will be returning to another meeting with a clear written proposal after having had the cinema and how it works explained.
Gerry would like to do a forum that would be a meeting of different groups, eg anarchists, socialists, anti fascist groups etc. It is agreed that the 10th feb would be okay for them to use the cinema in the daytime. She is also interested in doing a skill sharing workshop at the end of march, eg, press info, legal advice, direct action.. she is going to think about this further and come back to us about this.
Hannah here also on behalf of a Brighton based artist who wants to show his poems and photos of the australien rainforest. Hannah is going to help him book in a short period to display these in the foyer, potentially in April.
Craig has briefly mentioned that Gallery Glue (heaton) may not have their space for much longer and would possibly be interested in doing some curating in the foyer space of our building. We agreed that they should come up with a proposal that would be flexible enough for the space not just to become exhibition space and people with ideas to still be able to use the space/ exhibit etc at other times.
3. EVENTS THIS WEEK- KEYS ETC
Tues 27th Life work art- ilana/Debbie keys Weds 28th- super 8 art event- ilana keys Thurs 29th- fundraiser – holly keys
Friday 30th – staffed
SAT 31st – events in the daytime and evening- we have no keyholders and no other volunteers! This is for the bike festival and a gig later by a band- Lucero
SUN – Film- No keyholder, No staff ACTION- Debbie to try and find keyholders/ staff for the events as no one at meeting can commit any more of their week to the cinema.
4. Any Other Business
New Years Eve- Mike is trying to work out how many star and shadow volunteers are willing to help organise and run the star and shadow new years eve party because if it happens it will not just be a road to rimini event- its general star and shadow event. Mike is going to email the star and shadow list and put signs up to work out how many people will commit. If there are not enough people to share the responsibility of running the night it will not be going ahead.Which is okay in terms of publicity as nothing has been in print. If you are interested please email starandshadow@gmail.com and put it for the attention of mike.
5. Publicity… ran out of time to discuss this. But Debbie is compiling for feb/march programme which needs to have the text sent to her by the 15th dec (earlier because of Christmas and new year holiday time lost) My email- to.deborahjane@googlemail.com don't take the 'to.' bit off the front- its part of the address. Annette Knol is the designer.
