S&S General Meeting 17.09.07
Four Hour Film - Ian IF films - wish to do event called the 4 hour film challenge. Sun 11 Nov. Make films during afternoon in a film challenge and show them on the evening. Have funding to pay hire fee and have a beer promotion. Will bring some volunters as well incl for bar.
Funding - Arts council past funding - Debbie will do. Need to spend the money on ventilating the darkroom. Arts council funding future - applying for £7k this time - stream we are applying to has been turning down lots of apps recently. Last NFM report due in a few months ago but not sent in as hadn't finished the project. Christo will finish and send off. NFM is also open to applications at moment - last year covered cinema of the world and south asian cinema club. Adrian will liaise with Holly and Christo on this to take an application forward to fund cinema of the world. Bill - idea for Golden Age of British Film - to discuss funding for this at programming meeting. Also to discuss funding strategically.
Shutter Door - Christo and Bill to be in Mon/Tue/Weds next week for shutter to be repaired.
Security - Long discussion around security - agreed to keep doors with key codes locked when events are on and portable, expensive equipment to be kept where possible in projection room.
Offer of Projector - 35mm projector being offered by Mike Mould - Craig and Matt to go check it out on Thurs.
Roles and Responsibilities - Holly had hoped to have more time to talk about this - but time running out - to take fwd to a Processes Meeting on 9 Oct.
Tidying & Maintenance - Concern about people not cleaning up after themselves - simple things like washing cups and putting equipment back. Also, people not always cleaning up after events. Plea for everyone to take responsibility for this. Also, have to make it clear to those who hire that they must clean up. Some of blue canvas chairs need fixing, Bill to get a quote and Holly will ask volunteers if anyone has any expertise. Sofas - to get rid of the scruffier ones and keep the 2 or 3 good ones.
Toilets - Women's toilet repairs - ongoing problem - have to speak to builders - Christo to speak to Mike Forrester. Art Jam collective (Dan 07814274857) offered to repaint the men's toilets and the corridors white - sort out next Monday when to do this.
Cafe - Mike - currently works in organic cafe in Clayton St - has some ideas for cafe provision in the cinema. To meet up with a small group of people to talk over proposals and hear how cinema currently runs. Then to put something in writing. Holly to put into a volunteer email to see who's intererested in discussing beforehand.
Oct/Nov brochure - Stephanie and Adrian volunteered to pull programme together for designer on Sat and Sun and send to designer on Sun night. Craig to do Dec/Jan programme - closing date for copy 25 October.
