1. QueerBeats Xmas Party. Dec 22nd

most attending already members - non members to pay xtra £1 on door. Craig to Keyhold. Get in on 21st to set up is ok as no event that day. nb likely to be big drinkers! Ilana reassured bar will be well stocked. Nicky to come down before to learn how heating works No late live amplified live music in exhibition space as has led to complaints from residents

2. International Womens' Day - March 8th Suggested S&S should have some kind of event to support. Agreed. No firm suggestions made but deadline for March prog will be Jan 10th so there is time.

3. New Year's Eve Michael outlined proposal for joint Road to Rimini/Star & Shadow hosted evening. He will post this proposal on the wiki. The proposal was broadly agreed and anyone interested should attend a NYE sub-group meeting on the 26th at same time as next publicity/programming meeting. Main points. Rimini to help organise rather than do everything. Must be collaboration. Will need their team (7) plus at least 12 volunteers to set up, run night & clean up. Tickets at £12 - to be made available to different groups so not all Rimini crowd. Proposal allows for probable event surplus of about £500 (not including bar) Be good to advertise even if event likely to sell out. Will have to apply for license, but shouldn't be a problem

4. Bend Sinister Hayley wanted to bounce ideas around about programming BS at S&S, possibly turning the night into more of an art event than it's current ElectroHop format. Hayley to check dateson wiki, poss for April trial. Support expressed

Interesting discussion ensued about how it's important for anyone promoting nights to understand the Star and Shadow ethos 'working with people'. Important to build a relationship. Much experience from others. Fipps commented how Star and Shadow nights differ from working with other venues, which brings its own challenges, but also potential "it's a culture shock working here. The world's your oyster when you're down here, You can just experiment and play."

5 & 6 Momus and Jean Biquoy Two proposed nights from Craig for March/May respectively. Craig will be looking for partnership funding. S&S poss to cover some expenses. Momus is Nick Curry - Youtube art Jean Biquoy is Belgian. not sure i've spelled his name right.

7. AV Festival Further to presentation at last meeting, we have received a proposal from the AV festival to be a partner venue for the festival. Ilana will post the proposal on the wiki. Proposal for AV Festival to programme 4 events during the festival (feb28 to March10) and suggested that we should programme some related events. Suggestions for films include Videodrome Truman Show Talk Radio Warriors The Last Broadcast also suggested there should be related events/installations. Suggestions included Radio Van project, Skype DJs. Programme deadline for AV Festival is Nov 19th.

Suggested we need a couple of lines in the AV festival programme along the lines of "The Star and Shadow is an independent cultural space for film, music and artistic interaction, programmed and run entirely by volunteers. Throughout the AV Festival, Star and Shadow will host screenings, live music and installations inspired by the theme of AV08. For full details see www.starandshadow.org.uk" Ilana to create AV strand on wiki in March April programme .

8. Combining Programming and Publicity Meetings A discussion about whether programming and publicity meetings should be combined. "publicity is a lot to do, but not a lot to discuss" (got a lot of nods) Following discussion, consensus was that we should try the following suggestion and see how it goes. Suggested that 2nd Monday will be programming and then 4th Monday will be split equally between programming and publicity.

AOB Hotspur School may be interested in bringing pupils down for screenings. Lesley to liase Andy J to dig out information on Film Bank license. see http://www.filmbank.co.uk/ Stephanie wants ideas for funding/fundraising for a Flamenco night Deadly Doris has asked for £100 fee for gig on 28th. Promoter asked if S&S could contribute. Suggested they charge on door (either on way in or way out).

meeting closed at 8pm minutes by Andy J (andy@screenstation.net or 07960 393785 if u need to check anything)
