New ideas:

Roma from Open Clasp Theatre attended the meeting with a view to Open Clasp holding their AGM at S+S on June 27 2008.

erformance under the banner of Stray Signals, an event that he had previously held at Gallery Glue. He would like to do a one-off first and then see how this worked out before perhaps doing a monthly event.

There was some discussion about whether the bar should be open - sometimes on events like A Bit Crack the bar closes during readings.

Craig introduced Mark to Pauline to talk about the typical terms for hiring S+S.

James was interested in an audio visual night around the theme of zombies, that would take place on Friday 13 June.

They would be approaching ACE for funding and would ask local musicians to create music to accompany the films they showed.

The event will be treated as a private hire.

Maintenance and building

Tom from Drop-bass Sound System discussed improving the sound system at S+S, perhaps in return for use of space at the cinema as a workshop or for storage.

There was some discussion about health and safety and about the different issues arising from such a deal, but it was suggested that Drop-bass draw up a paper with several options and that this be discussed at another meeting.

Mat proposed a morning of maintenance work on Saturday 22 March from 1000-1500. Dan, Tom and James volunteered to help and Tom will provide his van.

Issues arising from last two weeks

Keith raised the issue of the graffiti night on Saturday 8 March.

There was damage in the men's toilets, a lot of tagging, and there had been a letter of complaint.

There was lots of discussion about how to run these kinds of events, and indeed whether to hold graffiti events at all.

Dan agreed to make do and mend and will come into S+S on Weds with Mat to paint over tagging and other intrusive graffiti.

Dan and Tom would like to hold another event later in the year but will probably just show films in the immediate future - Craig will buddy Dan on booking and promoting films etc.

Programming

The programme is on its way to the printers.

Bill felt there were too many gigs and that these were the most problematic evenings. Could we find other ways to make money on the bar?

Roger and Robin wanted to attend a group workshop on programming films.

Any other business

Robin said that on Saturday he couldn't find tools - they were either damaged or missing parts.

Maintenance group agreed to discuss this.
