Women in Cinema research

Okay, so I was excited by the discussion of female directors that we had a while back and I thought that I might propose a once-monthly Women in Cinema programme, like the Decades of Musicals and Cinema of the World, perhaps one Thursday of every month (or something). I need to take this to a meeting to propose, but thought it would be a good thing to have an open page where people could suggest films written by, directed by, starring, focussed on women -strong, positive, progressive women in cinema that often get sidelined, belittled, forgotten etc. If all else fails, it will make a good list/resource for future programming. Please suggest films (there'll be cross-overs), including the year and director (and star if necessary), under the following categories (including non-Hollywood!):

Desperately Seeking Susan (S.Siedleman, 1985)

In the Cut (J.Campion, 2003)

Ratcatcher (L.Ramsay, 1999)

Under the Skin (C.Adler, 1997)

2 Days in Paris (J.Delphy, 2007)

Secret lives of words (2005) or Anything by Isabel Croixet - awesome

Invisible Adversaries (1977, Valie Export)

Anything by Chantal Akerman

Anything by Catherine Breillat

The Life and Times of Rosie the Riveter (C.Field, 1981 - documentary)
