John Waters Season

From The Star And Shadow Cinema Wiki

Eat Your Makeup (1968), Roman Candles (1966), Hag in a Black Leather Jacket (1964) Did not research because I think its pretty certain that you'll need to go through John for this.

Mondo Trasho 1969: No UK distribution. John Waters needs to give us direct rights to this according to New Line (producers) It was originally screened on 16mm and would be lovely if we were somehow able to locate a print. Perhaps JW may know of whereabouts of any.

Multiple Maniacs 1970: Originally 16mm and on Palace entertainment. They no longer have it - There is no UK distribution - another one to ask JW for and to also ask him if he knows of any 16MM prints in the UK

Pink Flamingos 1972: In the UK it was with Entertainment. They no longer have it. NewLine (USA Producers) have the rights for it, but there is no print in the UK. Contact USA +1 310 967 6513 but they could give us the rights to screen a dvd (boo!)

Female Trouble 1974: This is one to ask JW about.

Polyester 1981: New world distributors were my last lead but I go stuck there trying to find them. They are in LA.

Hairspray 1988: Entertainment have the DVD rights. Contact: (020) 7930 7744. Michaelw@entertainment-film.com (or Michael?) (They also have DVD rights to a dirty shame.) Hairspray if you wanted to show it would be another one though to ask JW if he knows of any UK prints. If one is found then we need to go through New Line to get the right to screen 35mm.

Craig- JW was the producer alongside a company for a lot of the above so I suspect we could get the go ahead for the ones without UK distribution from him also, rather than going through the other production companies. It would be worthwhile sending the whole desired programme to him. I'm just sad that there seems to be no prints for any of them. You could ask him if there were a print collection in the USA which he has access to? Because if we got the rights to it all from him we could tour the programme and so share the print cost with at least 3/4 other cinemas I bet.
