Evolution Festival 07 May 20-28 Evolution is a unique urban music festival staged at outdoor and indoor venues across NewcastleGateshead, including The Sage Gateshead, Newcastle Carling Academy, Digital and The Cluny. Evolution 07 will culminate in a weekend of outdoor activity, with a major dance event in Baltic Square (Gateshead Quays) followed by free music extravaganza Freevolution on Bank Holiday Monday (28 May) for more than 40,000 people, against the spectacular backdrop of NewcastleGateshead's Quaysides.

2007 Summer Tyne Festival including the UK premiere of La Fura dels Baus July Venues across NewcastleGateshead Summer Tyne is the development of a summer events programme both within The Sage Gateshead building and on Gateshead Quays. La Fura dels Baus, who famously opened Barcelona's Olympic celebrations, will make their only UK appearance, performing from the deck of a large ship on Spillers Quay accompanied by a huge local cast.

SAMA Festival September 23-27 2007 is the 60th anniversary of India's independence from Britain and its transformation into the world's largest democracy, presenting fantastic opportunities to celebrate and explore this extraordinary country at this moment in its history and its relationship with Britain. The SAMA Festival is a vibrant and colourful, culturally diverse arts festival celebrating South Asian culture in North East England. The week long festival includes a dynamic programme of work, including new commissions, high quality performances across all art forms, exchanges and education/community projects working with artists, producers and organisations from across the UK and India.

Dott 07 October Dott 07 brings a year of projects that explore how design can make a positive difference to our daily lives. Communities and individuals in North East England will be encouraged to collaborate with designers in real-life situations. Inspired by the question, ‘Who designs your life?' Dott 07 will see exhibitions and events in museums, galleries and rural sites. The programme culminates in a twelve day festival held in NewcastleGateshead in October.
