AV Fest 2010
From The Star And Shadow Cinema Wiki
Nice meeting with Rebecca Shatwell, director of AV.
Theme: ENERGY (in every way you can interpret it).
Dates: March 2010
Four ways of being involved:
1. S&S creating a hub EVENING venue for the 11 days of the festival, with major decoration/installations and food and volunteer planning in place.
2. Evening programme - collaborating with local promoters, and proposing ideas ourselves, for stuff to happen between 9pm-12am or later.
3. Programming workshops and screenings - 1 artist to do a workshop residency, followed by screening at the end. Perhaps look into one other night of S&S programmed content
4. Working with AV on archive application, including film programming, artist in residence and education programme, in lead up to festival.
Budget:
We need to work out a budget and propose it to AV
Production and management of 'Night venue environment':
Basic costs as per S&S protocols found in Handbook.
11days at £125 per day (covering daily running costs of S&S) = 1375
11 days at £50 tech equipment hire = 550
Materials & equipment hire/ installations for designing space= £2000
Someone to lead on design = £500
Transport and accom. = £500
Catering contract = 11x£50 = £550 - then profits go to caterer. (to cover any equipment hire too.)Is this unnecessary?
Total = £5475
Nightly guest curated events:
10x£500 per promoter (inc. 1x S&S, 1x Rimini, 1x No-Fi, 1x Distraction, 6x others)
Total = £5000
Logistics:
Food Hygiene Cert.
Volunteers from AV inducted.
50% of volunteer spaces filled by AV volunteers.
S&S volunteers to get discounts on other stuff in festival.
Tech equipment owned by S&S used where possible
Need to make sure S&S protocols are followed.
Lovely to be involved this early in something! Hooray.
